General Overview | Yisril is an intelligent and striving person, she wants to make a difference in the world, and she wants to better herself. When not in her depressive periods, she’s fairly outgoing, impulsive, sociable and laughs easily. During her depression in her teenage years, and the relapse in her early twenties, she was easily angered, reckless and cynical. Though as cured as one can be of her depression, these traits sometimes still surface, though she does what she can to keep them down.
Strengths & Weaknesses | + Intelligent + Striving + Outgoing +/- Impulsive - Sometimes feeling like she’s underachieving, leaving her angry - Bouts of depressive/ cynical episodes |

Ambitions | Making a difference, even if a little one. Making her parents proud.
Hobbies & Interests | Yisril likes social events, team sports (she particularly enjoys outdoor activities like sailing), games of all kinds, and parties. She also tends to meditate, read, listen to music and though she is not very art-sy herself, she still appreciates it. |
Personal History | Yisril was born on Trill to Jodzim and Yarel Turran, as the next oldest of three children. Both of her parents had once served with Starfleet, but Yarel retired to Trill, working at the Science Ministry and being the primary carer of the three siblings, while Jodzim continued to serve as a Security Officer. Yisril’s childhood was fairly happy, and the children grew up in an environment valuing scientific and personal achievements. It was understood that her parents, especially her mother, expected at least one of the siblings to be Joined one day. Even as a teenager, try as she might, Yisril was prone to bouts of depression, but with the help of counselling and medication, she managed to live with it and even overcame it to continue her studies. Yisril was the only one out of her family to favour the natural sciences, and sometime in her teenage years, she decided to become a doctor and to join Starfleet, feeling that it provided an amble ground to develop herself personally as well as scientifically. She joined Starfleet Medical as a Cadet at age 18, full of optimism. She graduated an MD in 2349, and spend the following two years a medical resident on the USS Archer, figuring out her specialisation, while applying for Joining at the Trill Symbioses Commission. At age 22, she was however rejected for Joining, and despite very few Trill being given the honour, she spiralled into depression, and almost dropped not only Starfleet but also her medical career. Seeking help within Starfleet at first, she was diagnosed with depression, and took 9 months of leave, returning home to battle said depression, and figuring out where her life was headed. Eventually, she did return to Starfleet, still on medication and under strict orders to continue her therapy sessions, but newly encouraged to not give up. A year later, she was ready to discontinue both medicine and therapy. She had also decided to specialize in cardiothoracic surgery and spent the next four years in different learning postings on DS 3, the USS Archer, and at Starfleet HQ. At 30, in 2357, she graduated a fully qualified doctor from Starfleet Medical, determined to look forward. She served on the USS; Proxima where she eventually was promoted to CMO; a quick little ship mainly assigned patrolling missions, which had a few run-ins with Romulans, Borg, Cardassians and other threats to the Federation. Her own insecurities buried, she fought not to become cynical, and to help those that needed it; she had her share of patients dying under her hands, but the medical personnel worked well together, and the good days where they saved lives were as frequent. When the Proxima was being decommissioned, the ship was old and damaged to a point where reparation seemed fruitless, she applied for the USS; Defiant. |
